Short list, and deliberately so. If you meet these you can start today.
Deploy Line is the pipeline Mateo installs on every project that runs on its own servers. Each release is built once in GitHub Actions, uploaded as an artefact, unpacked into a new timestamped directory and switched live with an atomic symlink change, so visitors never see a half-deployed site. Rolling back is one command that points the symlink at the previous release.
The recipe covers server provisioning on Ubuntu, Nginx with HTTP/2 and automatic TLS, health checks before the switch, database migrations that run safely ahead of the code that needs them, and Slack or email notifications. Adapters are included for Laravel, Node, Python and static sites, plus a Docker Compose variant for containerised apps.

A bad release went out on a Friday afternoon. One command and we were back on the previous release in seconds while we fixed it calmly.

Works beautifully on Ubuntu. On our Rocky Linux servers I had to adapt the provisioning script, which the guide warns about but does not cover in detail.

The chapter on running migrations ahead of the code that needs them was the first explanation that made sense to me. No more maintenance mode for releases.
Platform engineer, keeps the deploy lines running
Mateo has run infrastructure for an e-commerce platform through four Black Fridays and a data-centre migration, which left him with firm opinions about rollbacks. He writes the DevOps recipes and backup scripts, and tests each one on a fresh server and a fresh cloud account before release. If a recipe has no undo, he does not consider it done.
