About this course

The journey

Networking feels like magic until you write the server yourself. In this course you build a chat server that handles dozens of users at once, using nothing but POSIX sockets and poll(), plus a terminal client to talk to it.

You design a small text protocol, handle partial reads and disconnects, add rooms and nicknames, and finish by stress-testing the server with a hundred simulated clients.
